David’s market access expertise is built on more than 25 years of experience assisting clients in developing strategies to optimize brand access in the competitive biopharmaceutical market. David’s creativity, strategic acumen, deep market insight, and client focus have earned him an industry-wide reputation among market access professionals.
As an engagement leader, David enables clients to view their business challenges in new ways. By providing innovative frameworks and nuanced market insights, he helps clients structure and analyze market access problems, find strategic opportunities, and develop tactical solutions. David has facilitated clients’ ability to build and execute market access strategies for products in many therapeutic areas, including cardiovascular disease, CNS, diabetes, HCV/HIV, infectious disease, obesity, oncology, vaccines, and several rare diseases.
Prior to joining Herspiegel Consulting, David co-founded Health Strategies Group and was instrumental in building its industry-leading reputation for strategic insight in the rapidly evolving US access landscape.
Earlier in his career, David was an executive with Merck & Co., where he directed marketing for several major brands and for Merck's hospital and institutional customers. He led strategy development and execution for products and customer segments, setting pricing policy and contracting strategy for institutional customers. Additionally, he was a marketing executive in Merck's UK operating company and supported Merck’s strategic planning and business development processes. David is widely published in the industry and speaks at numerous pharmaceutical conferences.
David holds an MBA from the Johnson Graduate School of Management at Cornell University and a BA in Psychology and Economics from Brandeis University.
